About the position

Frank is seeking an organizer with experience in labor or community organizing to assist with worker relations. This project-based position will be tasked with supplementing Frank’s worker relations through research and outreach.

The organizer in this role will work with specific small groups of workers who are in the early stages of campaigns and build relationships with local community organizations (preferably in Chicago). We will collaborate with the applicant on a specific course of action that fits their abilities and experience

The timeline for this project is two months; total hours spent on the project are negotiable depending on the skill set and experience of the applicant but are likely between 10–15 hours a week. You will need access to the internet and either a laptop (preferred) or smartphone. You will collaborate with the CEO and Head of Operations over the course of this project. The total project rate is $3,000. To be completely transparent, we don’t expect this position to turn into full-time employment because of the stage of our company. But, we do want to build a long-term relationship with this applicant in the hopes that this project is successful and can lead to additional project-based work in the future.

About you

This candidate has experience in community, political, or labor organizing. You are passionate about helping people: you are aligned with Frank’s mission of empowering workers and amplifying their voice in the workplace. You have existing community roots or the desire to establish some. You have experience building relationships and engaging communities.

You are also comfortable using technology to facilitate your work — examples include email, social media, chat apps.

You are ideally located in Chicago, but don’t necessarily have to be. The position does not require in-person meetings; work will be primarily conducted via email, phone, and video conference.

The workers we seek to serve are diverse across race, gender expression, class, and language. We know that many of the workers most at risk of exploitation and unfair labor conditions are women of color, formerly incarcerated people, LGBTQ+ people, and many other marginalized communities. As a company, we are committed to listening to and taking direction from these voices, so we strongly encourage applicants from those same communities to apply to this position.
